weight loss

<![CDATA[

Are there any specific meal plans or diets you would recommend for women hoping to lose weight? What do you like about each and why would you recommend it? Do they offer any other health benefits?

There are general ways of relating to food that can favor weight loss, however, specific plans should always be approached with nuance while taking into consideration the context of each individual woman in their life. That is best determined with a professional that inquires into the personal details of a woman’s physical condition, mental/emotional condition and how their relationship with food and/or their body has informed their goals to this point. This is the difference between a temporary “diet” versus a new approach, relationship or direction with wellness that is truly sustainable for the rest of their lives, healthy in its execution and in alignment with how they live their unique life.

Why might some women benefit from a more structured diet program for weight loss?

Structure is important with food. Lack of structure is usually rooted in not being able to consistently notice your patterns and relationship to eating. Rather than a specific program to follow perfectly, more awareness and mindfulness in eating and their life in context can yield a result that is guided from the woman’s own inner authority with food and her body rather than simply being told what to eat exclusively.

What factors should women consider when selecting a weight loss plan/meal plan for them?

Be weary of plans that don’t feel personalized, or are asking you to meticulously track every calorie or macronutrient you eat, indefinitely. Plans that are formulaic for thousands of people tend to get old which then can create shame when you decide to discontinue the plan, beginning the cycle again. Look for balance, look for professionals that want to understand you because there has never been a health journey just like yours.

Any other tips for women trying to lose weight?

Be gentle with yourself. Be open to getting curious with yourself. Never see your body as a means to an end.
